One of the original selections that you will need to make when choosing a double stroller is whether to buy a tandem stroller or a side by side stroller. Each type does have it is own advantages, as well as disadvantages.
Tandem Double Strollers
A tandem double stroller seats one child in front of the other child. The major vantage of using a tandem stroller over a side by side stroller is it is narrow width. A tandem takes up no more width than a single stroller. If you spend most of your time in crowded areas or in narrow buying goods aisles, then the tandem may be the one for you. But, there are some less favorable advantages for this stroller.
- Children are seated one behind the other
This may cause difficultnesses with children fighting over which one gets that front seat. Most manufacturers commend that the older child be placed in the front seat, with the younger, lighter child placed in the rear. If the children are of dissimilar ages, in general this works out for a while. But as the younger child grows older and wiser, he realizes that he, too, wants that front seat. If the children are twins, or siblings close in age, you may closely plan on arguments over who gets the coveted front seat.
- Tilting the tandem stroller to get on or off sidewalks may be a major problem
Placing the older child in the forward seat places the heavier weight further away from you. This makes it difficult, almost impossible, to lift the front of the stroller off the ground. The strength necessitated to tilt a stroller back depends on the distance the child is from the fulcrum point. In this case the fulcrum point is the rear wheels. As the child is placed further and further away from the rear wheels, the strength you need to tip the stroller becomes greater. If you are in the city and cross a heap of streets, this is something to consider.
- Space is fixed and confining
Space in the rear seat may become confined and uncomfortable as the child grows more spectacular in size. Often the child in the rear have a tendancy to kick and annoy the child sitting in the forward seat.
Side by Side Double Strollers
Side by side double strollers seat the children side by side. The width of these strollers is wider than the tandem stroller and ought to be considered if most of your time is expended indoors such as buying goods in space restricted areas. However, in most circumstances, the side by side strollers have a great deal of advantages.
- Both children have a front row seat and view
Side by side double strollers eliminate the arguments over seating. The side by side double strollers also concede the children to interact with, and entertain each other, while on rides or when parked.
- Side by side double strollers are posing no difficulty to tilt back when going over curbs
Tilting is not a problem with most side by side double strollers. There is still the weight of two children, but the weight is located closer to the rear wheels, and this makes a big difference.
- There is a great deal of leg room for children as they grow
Provided the seats are roomy and comfortable, the side by side double stroller will accommodate both children all the way up to the greatest or most complete or best possible commended stroller weight. In a side by side double stroller, there is always a great deal of leg room out in front.
No matter what type of double stroller you determine to purchase, make sure that you likewise check out the frame and wheels. A double stroller holds regarding 100 pounds. That’s rather a bit of weight to maneuver in and around people, to cross streets, to tip going up and down sidewalks, etc. You want a sturdy frame to safely hold your cherished cargo, and well designed wheels to push the stroller easily.
The Joovy scooter X2 is designed to fill a giant hole in the double stroller market which is a lightweight, “fit through any door”, side by side stroller that has more room for huge American kids. The width of the stroller is 30″, no more folding the stroller to get inside. The wheels have sealed bearings so pushing two kids totaling 90 pounds is posing no difficulty than you could imagine, and the double front wheels make the stroller super stable. This is specially important if your kids climb in and out of the stroller by themselves and we have included a removable bumper bar to eliminate this possibleness too. The basket is more prominent than any stroller basket on the market period. The canopy is more spectacular than any other stroller on the market too. Each seat is to the full or entire extent adjustable, independently of the other, and each has it is own in seat mesh pocket and adaptable 5-point harness. You will love the one-hand recline system that locks into an infinite number of positions and all the way down to for a “near flat” napping position. We have likewise included two cup holders for the parents and two zippered pockets for phones, wallets, snacks, etc. The one hand fold takes seconds. The scooter X2 gives you the features you demand, the fashion you suppose and the quality Joovy is known for – all at a reasonable price.

Great stroller at a great price! By mrsrobni I have a very tall 2.5 year old (38 inches tall) and a 7 month old. I expended a LONG time hunting for a stroller that would work for both my girls and not break the bank. I considered sit/stand type strollers, but for a longer outing, I wanted more than a jump seat for my toddler. Finally it was down to the city mini double and the scooterx2. The scooter won because of price and because I thought my tall toddler fit better. It was most inexpensive to order from the manufacturer (free shipping/no tax). We LOVE the Orangie color – it is very bright!
The city mini double might steer a little easier, and I likewise preferent it is fold. However, it likewise cost $200 more and the belly bar is an added accessory. Also, the city mini basket is not easy to access. The ScooterX2 has a huge basket, and more than holds my big diaper bag, a couple baby dolls, and bags from stores in the mall. Its fold is easy sufficient to do, altho you do need to recline the seats all the way, which is a little annoying. I don’t like that the belly bar hits the ground when you fold it up, but I’ve mastered a sort of half fold where I have the belly bar touch my van bumper, and then lift it into the car from there.
My kids fit GREAT in this stroller. My 2 year old has a great deal of head room, so the stroller must last us for a while. The baby has had assorted naps in the reclined position, and seemed happy. I likewise like that the seats, while side-by-side, have a bit of a divider among them (I think there’s less poking/punching this way!).
It does fit through doorways, though it may be a tight squeeze. Going to the mall, we may make it most places. It does fine on sidewalks, in stores and the mall. We’ve had it on grass at the park and done fine too. I like that it’s a side-by-side rather than a front/back. Doorways aren’t fun, but it steers so much more comfortable than a front/back variety. My toddler loves riding next to her baby sister and is perpetually talking to her. If it had air-filled tires, I might call it perfect, but overall, I’m very happy with our stroller!

Great Stroller! By Jessica Szopinski We in the first place tried the Chicco tandem double stroller because we have that brand carseat and love their other productions as well. However, I wasn’t a fan of this style because it was like pushing a bus in my opinion. While the Joovy Scooter x2 doesn’t accomodate the infant carseat, I found that it is not in truth as huge of a concern as I thought it would be. The seats lay almost flat, sufficient so that our 2 month old looked comfortable in it at even 1 month old! We just got an infant head support and put that in there. We have a now 2 year old and 2 month old and they both fit well and look comfortable. The divider is big sufficient so that our toddler cannot pick at his little sister. The basket is HUGE!!! I may fit our huge diaper bag on one side, a water bottle, little cooler, blanket, and kids toys on the other side no problem. The canopy is big and offers full coverage (unless the sun is lower in the sky and you walk into it–then I don’t think any canopy would cover the kiddos). The baby bumper bar is nice, but not actually necessary.
The main con to this stroller is that the handle is not very tall and the positioning of it makes it so that you kick the back axle/brake bar when walking. I’m 5’5″ and my husband is 6’2″ and we both have this problem. I’d like to see them add a telescoping handle to keep out of the way of this problem. I did observe nonetheless that the brake bar may be got rid of in which each brake would be operated separately. Overall outstanding buy!

3 problems By dadreview i purchased this stroller yesterday and returned it today, when we tried it out in the store it seamed ok with my 5 month old and 2 year old riding in it, i am 6’2″ and i recognise i have to deal with everything being built for persons littler than me but after going for a long walk this morning i got actually fed up with bending over more or less to push the stroller. when i did stand up strait i would kick the rear axle of the stroller with each step. the third issue is when i went for the walk this morning i had my 2 year old and my 3 year old which in total weigh regarding 60 lbs, it made steering the stroller for me a beauteous annoying task, and for my wife it was so difficult that she without delay wanted to return it. my conclusion is if you are beneath intermediate height and you have very light kids this stroller is good for the price.
